CHANEL’S SUPERMARKET SWEEP
Chanel has amazed us with their innovative catwalk at the recent Paris fashion week. A typical woman has to go grocery shopping at least once a week.. and even if she doesn’t, if she needs a product with a shorter expiry date.. a supermarket trip is a must in a woman’s routine. High fashion also has a shorter or should we say limited life nowadays… and Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfield has brilliantly combined both concepts to create a ‘luxury supermarket’ catwalk! He shows off the new urban dweller range which includes knitted sneakers, baggy trousers, big tweed coats over disco leggings with holes and leather tracksuit bottoms which fits so well with fashions new motive towards haute comfort dressing… perfect for any girl to just pull on and go grocery shopping! All models wore their hair in crimped pony tails and edible sweet necklaces. Shelves were filled with everything from washing powder to Chanel branded foods including haute ketchup, eua de Chanel, CoCo Chanel coco pops and Jambon Cambon, named after the location of the original Chanel store. Some models were carrying shopping baskets decorated with familiar chains as seen on the luxury brand’s handbags and some were pushing trollies as they pursued whatever ‘chic’ groceries they needed. Celebs like Rhianna and Cara Delevingne, who also modelled were having fun ‘shopping’. Even at the age of 80, Karl Lagerfield can wow the fashion world. We can’t wait for the next seasons catwalk!!
